Joseph G. "Joe" Dolaher, a 7 year resident of Falmouth and formerly 20 years of West Hyannisport and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 17, 2022. He was 78 years of age.
Joe was born in Medford on September 3, 1943, a son of the late James F. Dolaher and Helen V. (McHugh) Dolaher. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1961. Joe worked as an administrator for the Archdiocese of Boston for 20 years until his retirement, working in various churches such as St. Francis De Sales Church in Charlestown, St. Vincent De Paul Church in South Boston, and Holy Name Parish in West Roxbury. Joe developed strong friendships with many nuns while working for the Archdiocese, friendships that he maintained throughout his life. Following his retirement, Joe continued serving others by working as a dedicated employee for the John H. Sawyer Funeral Home in Charlestown, where he showed care, compassion, and respect for the Charlestown community for many years. He was a kind man who would do anything to help others, including taking his family and friends to their doctors appointments. Joe was a historian who knew the family history of many of his friends, family, and community members. He was a true Townie, being very proud having grown up in Charlestown and of his Irish heritage. He appreciated the finer things in life, which he expressed in the very generous gifts that he would give. Above all, Joe was a special uncle to his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Joe is the beloved son of the late James F. Dolaher and Helen V. (McHugh) Dolaher. He is the loving brother of Francis "Frank" Dolaher and his wife Anne, Kathleen Jones and her husband Thomas, and the late James "Dapper" Dolaher and Edward Dolaher. He is the devoted uncle to many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joe's visiting hours on Tuesday morning, March 22, 2022 from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown.
