Obituary



Richard C. Merrigan, formerly of Medford and Boxford, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 3rd, at his residence in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was 69. Born in Boston, and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late John and Irene Merrigan. Richard enlisted into The United States Air force and The United States Army serving during the Vietnam War, before being honorably discharged in the summer of 1974.

Richard’s family was his pride and joy. He loved spending time with his family, especially being a proud Papa to his grandsons Nolan and Cameron. When Richard was not spending time with his family, he enjoyed soaking up the sunshine while riding his bicycle down in Florida. Richard was a loving husband, a great father, the best Papa, brother and friend. He will be missed by all.

Richard was the beloved husband of the late Paula (Dennehy) Merrigan. He was the devoted father of Sean Merrigan and his wife Vanessa, of North Andover and Ryan Merrigan and his wife Justina Kennefick-Merrigan, of Dunedin, Florida. He was the loving Papa of Nolan and Cameron. He was the dear brother of Maureen Merrigan of Medford, Nancy Evans of Somerville and John Merrigan of Salem, MA.

Richard’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Friday, March 25th, at 9 AM, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, March 24th, from 4-7 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
