Robert Kendrigan, 51 of Quincy, Massachusetts died on Wednesday March 16 at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in Stoughton, Massachusetts in 1970 he was the son of Robert P. and Marie J. (Salvo) Kendrigan.
He graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelors in English and spent the rest of his life working as a Facility Manager, most notably at IKEA in Stoughton, and recently at the Edward W. Brooke Courthouse in Boston.
He enjoyed watching all sports and betting on them, including snail races. He wrote poetry and enjoyed the game of cribbage with anyone willing to play.
Everyone loved Rob. He will be most remembered for his smile, contagious laugh, and his ability to make anyone laugh. We all know Robbie was a wise guy, and he enjoyed teasing those he knew could handle it. But Robbie also excelled at everything he put his mind to. He was incredibly smart (his mind was amazing and scary and he would endlessly count or multiply license plates numbers as he drove). He was very strong, which he often tried to prove by showing you, “his muscles”. He cared deeply for the people he loved, and he always had a kind word and a smile for his family, for his colleagues that he worked alongside every day, for someone making his coffee or pizza, and for strangers.
He is survived by his loving parents Robert and Marie Kendigan of Whitman, his sister April-Marie Manupelli her husband Rick Manupelli of Whitman. He is also survived by his niece Gabrielle Manupelli of Somerville and nephew Anthony Manupelli of Whitman. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will miss him terribly.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, March 26 from 11 am to 1 pm with a service to follow at 1 pm in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) in Whitman, with a celebration of life back at the family home, all are invited.
In lieu of flowers donations in Robert’s name may be made to the MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130
