Eileen P. Host-Epstein, age 66, passed away on March 13, 2022. She was born on July 29, 1955 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late John Host and Helen P (Creitz) Host. Eileen grew up being a part of Girl Scouts, winning the prestigious God and Country Award for outstanding community service. She graduated from Chicopee High School and also participated in Junior Achievement. She met her future husband while working at The Wall Street Journal and they moved to New Jersey where they spent many years. Eileen had a passion for selling Avon and was able to enjoy sales award trips to Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Eileen also worked as a deli clerk for a grocery store for many years. Both Eileen and Mel had a passion for Flea Market work and she was always on the hunt for a bargain she could re-sell. After Mel passed away, Eileen moved back to Massachusetts where there were many happy years going places and doing things, such as selling at local flea markets, going to the beach (and flying a kite from the boardwalk), swimming at the YMCA, visiting her fluttery friends at the Butterfly Conservatory, attending church and musical events with her family. Eileen enjoyed a great road trip to South Carolina to view the total solar eclipse and especially loved riding the ferry from Cape May New Jersey to Lewes Delaware. She was always the first one ready and in the car to go places. There's no way to quantify the fine qualities of Eileen, she was generous and kind to everyone, always wanting to do for others while not allowing others to do for her. Her faith in God was important to her, she always trusted that "everything's fine." She was sadly predeceased by her parents, her husband Melvin J. Epstein and an older brother Lawrence Host of Sacramento, CA.. She is survived by one son and his wife, Drew A. and Michele Epstein of Brewerton, NY; three beloved grandchildren, Ava, Anna and Justin, one brother David Host of Chicopee; one sister, Sally Dupuis of Chicopee; a sister in law Kirsten, along with many friends, including Sue, Ruth, Ellen & Gary, and Debra, who will miss her dearly. All services are private and will be held at a later date.
