Obituary

Devine, Leslie J. (Moores) of Newton, MA and formerly Stratham, NH and Ogunquit, ME passed away on March 15, 2022 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Leslie was born in Boston on March 27, 1946 to the late Joseph and Edith (Morris) Moores. She grew up in Belmont, graduated from Belmont High School and attended the State College of Framingham before marrying the love of her life, Donald Devine in 1966. Thus began a lifetime of love and adventure as they traversed the country and the globe in pursuit of Don’s career with Norton Company. They began their married life in Albany, NY where their daughters Jennifer and Wendy were born and then moved to La Habra, CA where their youngest daughter Stacy was born. From California, they moved to Hudson, OH and then on to Johannesburg, South Africa and Luxembourg before settling in Shrewsbury, MA for the final chapter of Don’s career with Norton. They bought their beloved home in Ogunquit, ME in 1989 and enjoyed 30 summers with their children, grandchildren, extended family and many friends. After Don retired from Norton and launched a catalog business in Maine, they split their time between Ogunquit and Stratham for many years before moving to Wellesley, MA to be closer to their daughters and their families.

Leslie is survived by Donald, her loving husband of nearly 56 years, her daughters Jennifer (Justin) Maiona of Wellesley, MA, Wendy (John) Schoenfeld of Wellesley, MA and Stacy (Tim) Kelly of Dedham, MA, and the grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Jason, Matthew and Katie Maiona, Will and Caroline Schoenfeld, and Sophia, Charlotte and Amelia Kelly. She is also survived by her brothers Gregory (Sara) Moores and Scott (Janet) Moores, sister-in-law Harlene Devine, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington Street, Wellesley.
