John William Burns, Sr. loving Husband and Father.
John “Jackie” Burns 66, formerly from Whitman, MA, residing in Raynham MA, passed away surrounded by loved ones at home on March 12, 2022.
Born in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1955, son of the late Joann and William Burns, he graduated from Whitman Hanson in 1973 and directly enlisted in the Army where he served his time at Fort Devens. He eventually landed a job in the Painters Union, and was a loyal member of DC35, L.U. 1138 as a drywall finisher. John loved what he did and took pride in his work and mentored countless people.
John and Deb welcomed many foster children into their home and changed so many lives for the better. He loved his family and friends more than anything. John could talk to everyone and anyone and could always relate. He was always a great person to talk with, and had a smiling face sure to make you laugh and guarantee you wouldn’t forget him. He left a mark in everyone’s life; his presence was contagious. We were all privileged to know him and we are now missing a special piece of our lives, he will be dearly missed.
John was the husband of Deborah (Shaw) for 42 years brother of Kathleen and the late Patricia of Whitman. He leaves behind three children, Deanna, Rose and John Jr of Raynham and three grandchildren Sean, Elianna and Kendra of Raynham. Also, best friend of 30 years, Donald of East Bridgewater.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Saturday, March 19th from 10:00 am -12:00 noon at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, MA 02382. A graveside service will follow at 12:15pm in the Saint James Cemetery, Harvard Street, Whitman, MA.
