Neil E. Schurko of Medford passed away on March 11, 2022. He was 61 years old. Born in Chelsea, he was the cherished son of Frances (Crehan) Schurko of Medford. Neil was the former husband and friend of Joni Lee Snydeman of Medford.
Neil was the devoted father of Neil E. Schurko Jr. and his wife Rachel of Medford and Nickie Schurko and his wife Nicole also of Medford. He was the adored "Papa Snake" of Jake, Vaeda, Teddy, Ryan and Devin Schurko for whom he would do anything. Neil was the dear brother of Brian Schurko of Malden, David Schurko of Medford, Janet Dole of MA, John Schurko of Plymouth, and Shannon Tracy of Medford and her late husband and Neil’s close friend Thomas. He was also predeceased by his beloved “Nana Kay”. Neil is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the cherished son-in-law and brother-in-law of the Snydeman family also of Medford.
Neil was a skilled laborer and self-employed handyman. He truly cherished his years coaching in the Medford Youth Hockey Program and stayed involved until his passing. Neil enjoyed playing in the Medford Men’s Softball League along with his sons, he was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved all things “sports” and nature. He loved music, Neil was always an advocate for the "underdog'', especially the youth of Medford and would help anyone who needed it.
Neil’s funeral service will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford on Saturday, March 19, at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. Interment will be private following the service. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 18, from 4-8PM.
