Our mother, Rose “Pearl” Cheek was called to her eternal home on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at UF and Shands in Jacksonville, Florida. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Jay Kimbro and Elder Robert Tucker officiating. Mrs. Cheek will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Daniel Cheek, David L. Cheek, John Cheek, Andrew Cheek, Camron Nance, Joey Nance, Keith Shelley and Kainen Jordan will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Saralyn Shelley, Kaley Jordan, Melissa Cheek and Zakaria Sadat.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Doyle “Wayne” Cheek, and Ronald Keith Cooper; her parents, Robert Lee Ivey and Ruth Lee Jones Ivey and her brother, Herman Fred Ivey.
She was born February 13, 1946, in Tift County. She grew up in West Berrien and later moved to Lenox. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Concord Church. She was a devoted wife of 47 years and a loving mother and grandmother to many. She enjoyed cooking and spending time outdoors growing flowers. She was a giver and enjoyed helping people. She was a determined, hard-working and compassionate person. She loved her church and her church family and was a Godly woman with strong faith. She is in heaven and will be so greatly missed by her children.
Mrs. Cheek is survived by her five children and their spouses, Doyle and Dana Cheek of Sycamore, Sara and Jimmy Poole of Coolidge, Rhonda Cooper Nance and David Wayne Cheek, both of Tifton and Karen and Zino Sadat of Stockbridge; one sister, Amanda Faye Bailey of Sylvester; 13 grandchildren and their spouses and four great-grandchildren, Daniel and Kaitlyn Cheek, David L. Cheek, Marlina Lane, Keith Shelley, Saralyn Shelley, Camron and Sarah Nance, Joey Nance, John and Maggie Cheek, Andrew Cheek, Melissa Cheek, Kaley Jordan, Kainen Jordan and Zakaria Sadat.
