Elaine A. “Joyce” (Jacobson) Barrett-Cox, age 67, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, with her adoring family by her side on Friday, March 11, 2022. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Edward W. Cox, to whom she was wed on June 2, 1998.
Born in Boston, MA on March 24, 1954, she was a loving daughter of the late Richard S. and Elaine O. (Osborne) Jacobson.
Joyce grew up in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston and was a 1972 graduate of Brookline High School. She was extremely proud to have lived in Mansfield since 1982 and prior to retiring, was the founder of Joyce E. Barrett Registered Electrologist, a company she successfully operated on Wood Avenue in Mansfield for twenty-five years.
Joyce’s family and friends were truly the essence and focal point of her life. Along with her husband Ed, she loved taking long rides and boating on the Neponset Reservoir in Foxborough. She also enjoyed morning crossword puzzles in local newspapers and will always be remembered for the special place in her heart for animals.
In addition to her beloved husband Ed, she is survived by her devoted and cherished daughter Stephanie E. Barrett and her fiancé Edward Gelman of Brighton. She was the dear cousin of Doug Stanger and his wife Natalie of California, Merilee Richter and her husband Robert of Mashpee, Roberta Armenti and her husband Jim of Westhampton, Michelle Hatfield and her husband Charlie of California and is also survived by her treasured grand puppy “Jack”.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
