James R. “Jim” Carey, age 60, of Tewksbury passed away at Mass General Hospital, with family by his side, on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
Born in Lowell on November 6, 1961, he was the son of the late Warren R. Carey and Elizabeth A. "Liz" (Kelly) Carey.
He attended the Tewksbury Public Schools, and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1979. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, in 1983 with a bachelor's degree.
Jim was a proud father, loving son and trusted friend to many. He enjoyed golfing, playing poker, doing crossword puzzles, listening to music, socializing with family and friends, and hosting family events.
In addition to his mother Liz, he is survived by his former wife, Gail M. (Smolinsky) Carey, his four children, John J. Carey and his wife, Quinn Molloy, James J. Carey, Paul T. Carey, and Elizabeth R. “Beth” (Carey) Marshall and her husband, Connor C. Marshall; his seven siblings, Michael P. Carey and his late wife, Susan (Hawkes), Thomas E. Carey and his wife Janet (Lamb), Joseph R. Carey and his wife Ellie (Blouin), Kelly E. Mercier and her husband Paul, Patrick R. Carey, Ann M. Achilla and her husband William, and Jane B. Deshaies and her husband Brian; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
