Obituary

Michael F. Lynch, age 77, of Weymouth passed away March 3, 2022, after a renewed battle with cancer. Michael was born on October 26, 1944, in Dorchester to his late parents Henry J. Lynch and Veronica (Coleman) Lynch of Boston.

After graduating from Dorchester High School in 1961, Michael joined the Army during the Vietnam War and served 2 years in Germany where he made many memories that he cherished for the rest of his life.
On his return home, Michael attended the State Teachers College at Boston, where he graduated with a degree in Library Science. He subsequently worked as Head Librarian at Boston University’s Mugar Library for over 25 years.

Michael had a love for travel and a passion for antiques and he fused these two together for the rest of his life, constantly bringing back beautiful pieces from around the world to fill his cherished home at 88 Union St. Weymouth. He was also co-owner of the business “Doing Antiques” for over 40 years.
He was predeceased by two of his loving partners, Paul Dewing and Joseph Curtis, both of whom shared his love for and business “Doing Antiques”. He is also predeceased by his beloved aunt, Bernadine “Bee” Franklin of Wellfleet.

Michael is survived by his devoted partner Richard Joyce of Holbrook, who infused the last years of his life with love and happiness. Along with his brother Hank Lynch and his wife Debra Jackson of Scituate he leaves behind his dear sister-in-law Elizabeth Gonzalez of Weymouth. He was the loving uncle of Vanessa Trifone, Justin Curtis, and Kerry Lynch. Michael also leaves behind many good friends including Nelson Barry and Joan Foster, along with his beloved dog Jax.

Michael will be remembered for his love of his family, friends, and dogs, along with his quick wit, extensive knowledge, and his delicious chocolate cream pies. Most importantly, Michael touched the lives of many and lived a full life always doing what he loved.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Michael on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 9-11am in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA 02190. A Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 11am followed by burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Honor of Michael to The Holbrook Animal Shelter.
