Old Man and the Sea
Jack Fraka, born in Nebraska on November 14, 1936, passed away at his home in Ventura, California on February 27, 2022, at the age of 85. He moved to California as a child and grew up in the Whittier/Santa Ana area. He attended the Whittier High School where he met Roseann Rowland, and they were married in 1956. Jack went on to trade school where he became a skilled mechanic, and at the same time started a family of his own.
Jack worked for Toledo Scales in Los Angeles, and then transferred to Ventura to become the company’s Regional Service Manager. Jack repeated said that moving to Ventura was one of the best decisions of his life. He loved being part of the Pierpont Beach community.
Like Jack’s work, his outdoor passions were seasonal. He spent spring and summer fishing endless days on the ocean. In late summer and fall he retreated to the mountains to enjoy camping; and going into winter, he escaped to the cattails and tulles. He was always waiting for the next season. When we look out at the vast Pacific, we will always remember the Old Man and the Sea, Jack Fraka.
Jack is survived by his devoted and lovely wife of 67 years, Roseann; three children (Craig, Jeff, and Leann); and four grandchildren (Amie, Jason, Josh, and Mercedes). One son, Wade, preceded Jack in death.
