Christine M. Merrick
A Loved Member of St. William’s Church Community
TEWKSBURY: Christine M. (O’Keefe) Merrick, age 58, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, following a courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma.
She was the beloved wife of Richard J. Merrick, with whom she celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on October 22, 2021, and loving mother of Richard J. Merrick, of Tewksbury and the late Matthew R. Merrick.
Born in Cambridge on April 11, 1963, she was the daughter of James F. O’Keefe, of Tewksbury and the late Marjorie A. (Cronin) O’Keefe.
Christine was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1981. Following high school, she attended Franklin Pierce College, where she received her bachelor’s degree in business management.
Prior to her illness, she was employed as an office administrator for BLM & C Electric of Woburn.
Christine was active in the St. William’s Church ACTS community, serving as co-director for the 2020 Women’s ACTS Retreat, as well as a faithful participant of the weekly prayer group. In addition, she and her dad were loyal communicants of the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday.
She enjoyed numerous activities including exercising, camping, cruising with her husband in his 1957 Chevy, weekend trips with her sisters, and spending time at Ossipee Lake.
Christine will fondly be remembered for her beautiful smile, her passion for dancing, and her love of her family, friends, and church.
In addition to her husband, son and father, survivors include her siblings, Kathy Lawton, of Andover, Patricia Barnes and her late husband William, of Tewksbury, Stephen O’Keefe and his wife Brenda, of Lowell, Julie Richter and her husband Bob, of Billerica, John O’Keefe and his wife Kate, of Fayetteville, NC, and Lynne O’Keefe, of Seattle, WA: her father-in-law, Richard F. Merrick and his late wife Dorothy (O’Leary) Merrick, of Tewksbury: brothers-in-law, Stephen J. Merrick and his wife Bonnie of Dracut, and Robert M. Merrick and his wife Michelle of Dracut. She leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
Calling hours are Tuesday, March 15th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16th, at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 A.M. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
