Obituary


Joseph Anthony Mitrano, retired founder of Aladdin Services of New England Inc., passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 2, 2002 in Florida at the age of 88 due to the effects of a stroke.

Joseph was born and grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. He was the son of Italian immigrants, the late Paul and Alphonsina Mitrano. He married and began his family and carpet business in Woburn. He spent his retirement summers in Woburn and winters in Manasota Key Florida. Prior to the stroke, Joe was an active golfer and a member of the Woburn Country Club where he golfed in the Wednesday morning Senior League and golfed with family and friends on a regular basis. He loved golfing and walked the holes socializing with fellow golfers along the way. He enjoyed the socializing as much or more than the golf. He also played at Manasota Key as a member of the Myakka Pines Golf Club where he made many good friends, cultivating lasting friendships. He also enjoyed exercising at the gym, playing cards and puttering around his meticulously manicured yard. He delighted in watching his grandchildren enjoy their sports as well, always attending their baseball, basketball and hockey games. He shared his love of golf with his grandchildren always encouraging them to play. Joe will always be remembered for his easy-going manner, thus leading to the nickname "E.Z. Joe".

Joe was the beloved husband of the late Judith (Dolan). Brother of the late Alexander and his wife Josephine of Somerville and the late Anthony and his wife Judith of Medford. Loving father of Donna Taylor and her partner Vino Valle of Haverhill and Paul and his wife Adele of Burlington, Joseph Jr and his wife Sia Tsihlis Clark of Burlington and Noreen Trudel and Charles Trudel. Proud grandfather of David Taylor and his wife Lisa, Derek Taylor, Paul Mitrano Jr. and his partner Krystelle Dagata, Christianne Trudel and the late Erik Michael Mitrano. Great grandfather of Alexandra and Austin Taylor.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours that will be held on Tuesday, March 15th, in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St, Woburn, from 4 to 7PM. A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 16th, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's memory to Tidewell Hospice at 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota FL 34238, www.tidewell.org.
