Obituary

Frank J. Arria, 82 of Medford, died Friday after a brief illness in the Melrose/Wakefield Hospital Melrose, MA.

Born in Boston, he lived in Medford for the past 60 years and was formerly of the West End of Boston. He was the son of the late Maria (Molena) and Salvatore Arria. Frank was a Supervisor at the Bureau of Special Investigations with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 16 years and retired as Regional Supervisor in 1988. He also had been employed by the U.S. Post Office, U.S. Army of Engineers, Motor of Vehicle License Examiner, and Royal Globe Insurance Co. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard during WW II from 1946 to 1947 as a Yeoman 3rd Class.

Beloved husband of Elena M. (Cuoco) Arria. Devoted father of Salvatore Arria, Maryellen Sampson and her husband James all of Medford, Joseph Arria and his wife Nancy of Derry, NH. Loving grandfather of Sherry, Renee, Angela and James. Also survived by 5 loving great grandchildren. Brother of Carmello Arria of Italy and the late Concetto, Florence and Josephine.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, May 3 Wednesday at 10 AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting hours Tuesday 2 - 4 and 7 – 9.

Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent in Frank’s name to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Attention: Contribution Services, Boston, MA 02115.
