Obituary

Porter - Helene F. DeWitt, 82, of Porter passed away at her daughter's home on February 28, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Helene was born in West Baldwin on November 2, 1939 to Lester E. and Ruth E. (Bliss) Frazier. She was educated in local schools and finished her senior year at Greenwich High School in Greenwich, CT. while she worked as a nanny.

Helene worked training horses for years. She went on to work at the Cornish Dress Shop and at the Fryeburg Shoe Shop. She finished her career at the Kezar Falls Woolen Mill. Helene retired at age 52 to watch her grandchildren. She was an amazing grandmother, taking them fishing, hiking, swimming, horseback riding and sledding. She would cook everyone something different for lunch or dinner because she always wanted to make people happy.

Helene taught her children to be kind to others and would say, "you never know what other people might be going through". She taught them to not judge others unless they walked a mile in their shoes. She was very loving and kind over the years and would even take people in if they needed a place to stay.

She was predeceased by her father, Lester E. Frazier, her mother, Ruth E. Anderson, her husband, Hanson R. DeWitt, her sister, Faye E. DeMers, her brother, Robert L. Frazier, and her beloved son, Everett L. Bragdon.

She is survived by four children: Jennifer McGrath of Stoneham, Mass., Robert E. Bragdon and wife Michelle of Bronx, NY., Edward J. Bragdon and wife Michelle of Presque Isle, ME., and Linda A. Watson of Parsonsfield, ME. Eight grandchildren: Rebecca McGrath, Ryan McGrath, Richard Le, David Bragdon, Michael Bragdon, Samantha Watson, Mitchell Watson and Trey Watson. Two great grandchildren, Audree Helene Coolidge and Parker Everett Bragdon. Also several nieces, including Jeannie Gavett who took loving care of her during the last year. Her granddaughter Samantha's husband, Josh Deveau, also took excellent care of her for the past few months.
