SOMERSET - Arthur Travers, age 85, of Somerset, died Sunday in Fall River at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Sylvia (Amaral) Travers. Besides his wife of Somerset, he is survived by 2 Sons: Andrew W. Travers & his wife Lucia of Somerset and John Travers of Tiverton, RI, 3 Daughters: Mary Ann Kramer & her husband Bruce of Manchester, CT, Donna M. Travers & her husband Herbert Dias of Swansea and Paula Bibeau & her husband Richard of Swansea, 1 Brother: Joseph Travers of Dighton, MA, 1 Sister: Mary Barboza of Virginia, 8 Grandchildren, 6 Great grandchildren, 1 Step great-grandchild and Several Nieces and Nephews. He was the father of the late Arthur J. Travers and Great grandfather of the late Dominic Mercado
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Augustine Travers and the late Madeline (Compos) Travers. He was a resident of Somerset for 80 years. Prior to retiring in 1982, he had worked as a Carpenter for H. Carr & Sons Construction Co. and previously for Gilbane Construction Co. He was a member of St. John of God Church and also a member of the Providence Carpenter’s Union Local 94.
His Funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 North Main Street on Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave. Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset. Calling Hours Tuesday 5-8 P.M.
