Ronald A. Nichols, 87, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, March 3, 2022. He was the husband of the late Joan (Downing) Nichols.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Milton and Rose (Poitras) Nichols, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Ron was an avid golfer and artist. He was a member of the Hawthorne Country Club for many years.
Survivors include his children, Brian Earl Nichols and his wife Nancy of Mendon, Catherine Joan Nichols and her husband James Blanchard of Bridgewater, David Nichols and his wife Debbie of Newton, and Steven Nichols and his wife Nalia of Snohomish, WA; his grandchildren, Matthew, Jeffrey, Felicia, Angie, Molly, Kelly, Conor, Sean, Jordan, Shaun, and Adam; and great-grandchildren Aison Parker Mariano-Nichols, Leah Evelyn Mata -Nichols, and Mateo Thomas Mata-Nichols.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Milton Nichols, Jr., and Pearl Fowler.
His Funeral service will be Friday, March 11th at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Guests are invited to arrive at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
