Jean L. Smith, age 96, of Bel Air, MD, passed away at home surrounded by her family on March 6, 2022. God is always looking for angels. He is getting a beautiful one. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was born in Nettie, WV, moved to Baltimore where she married her husband and raised her family. She lived for a time in Fitzgerald, GA and then returned to Baltimore after the death of her husband. Jean was primarily a homemaker who devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family. She also loved to travel, especially to Ocean City, MD.
Jean is predeceased by her husband, Louis R. Smith, her parents, Homer and Virginia Dorsey of Nettie, WV, and her siblings, Clarice Sneary, James Dorsey, Gale Dorsey, Dale Dorsey, Heber Dorsey and Clyde Dorsey.
She is survived by 5 children and their spouses: Bob and Becky Smith of Edgemere, MD; Bill and Connie Smith of Bel Air, MD; Rusty Smith of Ocala, FL; Jackie and Bernie Truffer of Staunton, VA; and Patty and Billy Jowers of Fitzgerald, GA.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Bobby and Shannon Smith, Greg Smith, Colleen and Andrew Krajewski, Catie and Mike Maxwell, Valerie and Kevin Krajewski, Matthew Smith, Ashley and Gino Toboada, Art and Jessica Burkindine, Crystal and Dominique Austin, and Shawna and Jeremy Fowler and 20 great grandchildren. Jean also leaves behind her buddy and comfort dog, Miles.
The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am and a Service at 11am on Saturday March 12,2022 at The Paulk Funeral Home, 301 S Main St., Fitzgerald GA. Interment will be next to her husband in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, GA.
