Albert G. Asiaf (Al), 77, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at AVOW Hospice House in Naples, Florida. Al was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on May 23, 1944, the son of the late Representative John G. and Juliette (Forest) Asiaf of Brockton.
Al was raised in Brockton graduating from Cardinal Spellman High School, class of 1962. He received his bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College in 1966 and his master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1968. He began his 16-year professional career in Brockton Public schools as a Math teacher at South Jr. High School in 1968 before transferring to the newly built Brockton High School as a guidance counselor in 1971. Al became an administrator with the Brockton Community Schools in 1980, where he served as the Director of Placement and the Liaison to the Educational Foundation. Al was appointed Director of the Professional Development Center, the corporate training arm of Massasoit Community College until his retirement in 2000. After retiring, he continued at Massasoit as the part time Director of Special Operations.
Al was very active in community organizations, including serving as the President of the Plymouth County Development/Convention and Visitors Bureau, President of the Boys and Girls Club of Brockton and President of the Lebanon American National Club of Brockton. He served on the boards of the Brockton visiting Nurses Association, Metro South Chamber and Cranberry Chamber of Commerce. In 2011 he received the Public Service Award from the Brockton Rotary Club.
Al is survived by his loving wife Maureen Sullivan Asiaf; two daughters LeeAnn Manning and husband Geoffrey of South Boston and Alison Ortiz and husband Gadiel of Raynham; stepdaughter Suzanne DeGust of Quincy and stepson Brian Sullivan of Mashpee; granddaughters Ella, Julia, Mia and Lily; step-grandchildren Gavin, Brody, Ty, Peighton, Molly and Lola. He is also survived by his brother John G. Asiaf Jr. and wife Heidi (Holding) of Naples, Florida; sister Jeanne (Asiaf) Quinn of Plymouth; brother-in-law Manthala George Jr. of Brockton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Al was preceded in death by his eldest sister Geraldine (Asiaf) George.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Friday, March 25, from 3-7pm with the Incense Service at 5pm.The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Saturday at 9:00am for a Funeral Mass at Saint Theresa Maronite Church at 10:00am followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
