Eileen Frances (Bates) Egan, age 85, of Dover, New Hampshire passed away on Sunday, March 6th, at Carriage Hill Assisted Living of Madbury, New Hampshire. Born and raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Mark Joseph and Catherine Mary (Ahearn) Bates. Eileen had a strong and inspiring faith in God: “Blessed be God” was her signature response to most things we would tell her. A loving mother and Grammy, she was a fierce advocate for her family or anyone that needed help in any way. Always quick with a word of encouragement, Eileen was a cheerleader to her family in good times and bad. She kept Hallmark in business, never forgetting a birthday, an anniversary, to wish you congratulations, or just a hello! Eileen was a cheerful spirit with a contagious laugh that would brighten any room. When those who knew her think of her, a smile will surely come to their lips, so do a good turn in her honor when you can!
Eileen was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Egan, and the devoted mother of Laurine Berry, Judith Ashe, Joanne Fulkerson, Andrew Egan Jr., Catherine Egan, Scott Egan, and Amy Dumont. She was the loving grandmother of Owen, Neil, Colin, Sean, Emmaline, Elizabeth, Kristina, Drew, John, Meghan, Olivia and Matthew, and the great grandmother of Sophia. Eileen was the dear sister of Marie, Catherine, Margaret, Jeannie, James, Jack, and the late Danny, Mark and Bobby, and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, on Friday, March 11th at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford from 10 AM through 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
