BUXTON- Audrey Viola Groves was a loving wife, stepmother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world due to complications from a fall that she suffered while in the home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday March 5, 2022.
She was born to Clinton and Ada Fields on August 10, 1941, in Freeport, Maine. During her 80 years of life, she made sure to enjoy every moment. In her younger years, she trained horses and barrel-raced her Arabians, she became a wonderful artist focusing on painting, ceramics, and even dabbling into stained glass. She was married to the love of her life, Bernard Groves, for over 40 years and during that time they accomplished several things together. They thoroughly enjoyed traveling together in their RV and managed to visit 48 out of the 50 states with the most cherished place they visited being the Grand Canyon. In their later years, they bought a little cabin in the woods in New Portland, Maine where they enjoyed four-wheeling and snowmobiling, walks in the woods and sitting on the porch. When her husband, Bernie, passed away just 10 years ago, she spent every day thinking about him and missing him dearly. After her death, her family found old love letters hidden away that were over 40 years old and the love they had for one another is undeniable. Both Bernie and Audrey were a huge part of the Buxton community and will be thoroughly missed.
She is survived by her 3 stepchildren, Charlie Groves, Sherry Ames, and Robert O’Farrell. She also leaves behind her grandchildren and an abundance of friends.
A graveside service is scheduled for Friday May 6, 2022, at 10am at the Highland Cemetery on Church Hill Road in Buxton, Maine where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service, Buxton, www.mainefuneral.com
