Henry C. “Pete” Mathis, 77, of Tifton passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at his residence. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Mathis at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Lenox Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Dan Eidson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born January 5, 1945, in Tifton, Mr. Mathis was the son of the late Homer Mathis, Sr. and Elizabeth Dove Mathis. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Homer Mathis, Jr. and one granddaughter, Justina Gay. Before retiring, he was a supervisor at Tifton Aluminum Company and retired supervisor at Central Soya. He loved playing golf and working in the yard.
Mr. Mathis is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Hilton Mathis of Tifton; one daughter, Nina Steverson of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, C. B. and Debbie Mathis of Byron and Bobby and Debbie Mathis of Tifton; one granddaughter, Leah Gay of Tifton; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Gay and Mia Grantham.
