Mary M. (Maciel) Oliveira, 98, of New Bedford died Saturday April 29, 2006 at Taber Street Nursing Home. She was the former wife of the late Ernest S. Oliveira.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Roselina Maciel Cunha, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Oliveira was formerly employed as a silk winder tender at the Gosnold Mill for many years. She had also worked in the housekeeping department of Brookline Hospital and as a housekeeper at Our Lady of the Assumption Rectory.
She was a former president of the Bedford Towers Golden Agers Club and a former member of the Presidential Heights Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Dorothy E. Barrows and Henrietta "Etta" Oliveira, both of New Bedford.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 12 Noon in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her family will receive visitors from 11AM-12 Noon prior to the service. Burial in St. John's Cemetery will be private.
