Gladdy (Sarkisian) Matteosian passed away on February 4th, 2022 at her home in Belmont, MA., surrounded by her children. She was the devoted wife of Leo D. Matteosian who predeceased her in 2004, and the loving and dedicated mother to her three sons: Gregory (her daughter-in-law Ta and her granddaughter Mika); David and his partner Jessica Helt; and Vasken and his partner Linda Emond. She is also survived by her sister, Victoria and many nieces and nephews.
Gladdy was born and raised in Watertown, MA. to Melki and Maryam Sarkisian. She worked alongside her parents throughout her youth and young adulthood at Manhattan Market. She raised her family in Watertown and moved to Belmont in 1986.
Gladdy had a true lust for life and lived it with gusto, immense grace and humility. Giving to others was her true nature. She was inclined to do for others before herself. This quality drew numerous people to her, many of whom considered her a second mother, a sincere friend and confidante.
She was a passionate sports enthusiast. An avid tennis player throughout her life, she played in competitive leagues around Boston. From childhood, she had a boundless love for the arts and developed herself into a wonderful actress, studying in Boston and New York City. She performed with many theatre companies in New England, including the American Repertory Theatre, the Huntington Theatre and the Wellesley College Theatre. She was a long time patron of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Ballet and the Museum of Fine Arts. Her generosity and love will carry on in all that knew her.
In honor of Gladdy, the family welcomes donations in her name to be made to savetheelephants.org.
