Bruce Rundgren, Sr.
Retired Auto Body Mechanic
TEWKSBURY: Bruce Rundgren, Sr., age 80, a resident of Tewksbury for 46 years, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Lowell General Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia E. (MacDonald) Rundgren, with whom he would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on July 7, 2022.
Born in Malden on July 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Herbert Rundgren and the late Lorraine (Cavanaugh) Rundgren.
Bruce was raised in Malden, where he attended local schools.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Belmont Volkswagen, where he worked as an Auto Body Mechanic for 12 years.
He was an antique car and truck enthusiast, and a member of the Dracut Roadrunners Car Club. He enjoyed the many hours spent restoring his 1962 Ford F-150 pickup truck. In addition, he loved gardening, watching movies, and following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Bruce was an animal lover. He treasured feeding the squirrels that visited his home daily, as well the companionship of the family cat, Sunny, and dogs Caroline, Trawler and Titus.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Debra S. Burns and her husband John, of South Carolina, and Bruce Rundgren, Jr. of Lowell. He was the brother of Herbert Rundgren and his wife Maxine, of Purcellville, VA, William Rundgren, of Billerica, and the late Beverly Smith and her late husband Charles, and the late Brenda Gould. He leaves his stepbrother, Thomas Haas, of Florida. He was the brother-in-law of Murdena Leil, of Nova Scotia, Canada and the late Douglas MacDonald. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Saturday, March 5th, from 3-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by a prayer service to be held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, www.mda.org
