Cathene R. Padgett, 82, of Anna, Texas, formerly of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, February 25, 2022, at Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Sammy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Mrs. Padgett was born February 16, 1940, in Laurens County, Georgia, to the late Emmitt & Ruby Lee Morgan Rountree. She was a homemaker and worked in retail for most of her life. She was a member of Dorminy Mill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons: Steve & Kam Dove of Anna, Texas and Michael & Vanesa Padgett of Fitzgerald; ten grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and siblings: Julius & Glenda Rountree of Plant City, Florida, Ronnie & Joy Rountree of Waycross, and Anne & Robert Roberts of Cochran. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. “Jimmy” Padgett; two grandchildren: Rebecca Elizabeth Dove and Wesley Ryan O’Neil; brothers: Roger Rountree, James Rountree, Walter Rountree, and Ralph Rountree; and sisters: Annette Rountree and Jean Smith.
