Harrington, Bridget “Bridie” (Brennan) of Needham, died peacefully at home on Feb. 24, 2022 at the age of 90 surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Clonmany, Co. Donegal, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Anne (Kelly) Brennan; Sister of Paddy Brennan of England; the late Mary Anne Jennings, Grace Langstroth, Nellie Meehan, Neal Brennan and Danny O’Donnell.
Bridie emigrated to Boston at the age of 17 and was the beloved wife of the late Cornelius Harrington; loving mother of John Harrington and his partner Elaine Ferrante, Margaret Harrington, Sheila Falvey and her husband Bobby, and Deborah DiCicco and her late husband, David DiCicco. She was predeceased by four of her eight children: Patrick, Neil, Annie, Michael. She was the cherished grandmother, “Nanny” to eleven grandchildren: Siobhan, Neil, Keith, Nicole, Bridgette, Anthony, Dayna, Cameron, Kevin, Hannah and Alexis; and nine adored great-grandchildren. She raised countless others, and was survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in the United States, Ireland, England, Australia, and Bermuda.
“Nanny” was a strong, wise, and loving spirit. Anyone who encountered her never forgot her. It is a day we knew would eventually come, but somehow hoped would never happen. While her loss is unimaginable, we are grateful for her nine vibrant decades, and we welcome her entrance into heaven. Rest assured that Nanny is up there hugging her beloved children, and giving Chuck - whom she cared for as her own through so many years - the support he needs. Our loss is their gain. God Bless Nanny.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Holy Name Church, 1689 Centre St. West Roxbury. Interment to follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
