Francis J. "Bo" Whitlock, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at his daughters home. He was 86 years of age.
Bo was born in Boston on January 8, 1936, a son of the late Charles J. Whitlock and Catherine A. (Doherty) Whitlock. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on February 26, 1954 and served his country with honor and pride during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on February 25, 1957 with the rank of Corporal. Bo worked as a Supervisor for Revere Sugar Refinery in Charlestown for over 25 years. He then began working for the City of Boston in the Charlestown Naval Shipyard and retired on October 30, 1999 as a Foreman following over 14 years of employment. He enjoyed traveling to Naples, Florida with his beloved wife Pat where they made many friends over the years. He also enjoyed camping in Maine with his family where he was well known for his campfires on a nice clear moonlit evening. He enjoyed playing golf, cards and bridge in his spare time and many years ago he was part of the World Half Ball Championship team when the half ball tournament was held every year at the old Charlestown High School. Family was very important in Bo's life and he cherished all the special moments he was able to share with his wife and children and especially was so very proud of his 5 grandchildren and the accomplishments they have achieved.
Bo is the beloved husband of the late Patricia C. "Pat" (O'Brien) Whitlock. He is the devoted father of Joseph Whitlock, Patricia A. Williams and her husband Timothy, John C. Whitlock and his wife Christine and the late James "Jimmy" Whitlock. He is the loving Papa to Kyle and his wife Caitlyn, Amanda, Nolan, Morgan, Sara and his great-grandchildren Tate and McKenna. He is the beloved brother of the late James Whitlock. Beloved brother-in-law of Marion Connolly, Beverly Rogers, Margaret O'Brien, Edward O'Brien, Daniel O'Brien and the late James O'Brien, Paul Rogers, James Connolly and Kathleen O'Brien. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bo's Funeral on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial is private. His visiting hours will be on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 2 to 5 P.M. in the funeral home.
