CHICOPEE – Mary Louise (Hayes) Liggon, 86, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Beaumont, Texas on May 10, 1935, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Ella Louise (Heben) Hayes. She was raised and educated in Lake Charles, Louisiana and later moved to Chicopee where she lived off and on for the past 50 years. She was employed as a Payroll Administrator at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and playing card games. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her seven loving children, Verneda M. Stover of Chicopee, Kenneth J. Liggon and his wife, Elvira Hernandez, and Judy A. Liggon and her partner, Susana Maese, all of Corvallis, OR, David L. Liggon of Ware, Barbara Jean Smoot of Westerville, OH, Denise L. Coleman and her husband, Jack, of Chicopee and Dena M. Champiney and her husband, Mark, of West Springfield; her 14 cherished grandchildren; her many cherished great-grandchildren; her former husband, Walter Liggon, Jr. of Corvallis, OR; and her many dear extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two dear brothers, Joseph “Sonny” Hayes, Jr. and Glenn Hayes; and her dear sister, Carolyn “Peaches” LeBlanc. Her funeral services and burial will be private. There are no visiting hours.
