Joseph Anthony Luca, 84, of Medford and Somerville, passed away unexpectedly at home in the presence of his devoted wife, on Sunday, February 27, 2022. He was the son of Rocco and Jenny (Della Russo) Luca of East Boston. An extraordinary and loving husband of Theresa (Messina) Luca for 61 years.
He was a gentle and loving father of Joseph Richard Luca, Theresa and Michel Luca Gilbert, Elizabeth Liebow, Steven and Staci Luca. Loving grandfather of Luca, Isaiah, Michael, Savannah and Jackson. Brother of Vincent Luca, the late Mary Alessandroni, brother-in-law of the late Salvatore Alessandroni, and the late Reverend Richard Messina. Fun loving uncle to Donna and Michael O’Connor, Michael Alessandroni, Michael, Erin and Julianne, and the late Joseph Alessandroni. Joe loved his parish, where he was a daily communicant, and served in quiet ways for many years.
He will be missed by his family and all he befriended. Joe was, above all, a kind and generous man to everyone he encountered. He was a beautiful gift to his wife.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, March 4th at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 64 Warner Street, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 5 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
