Zoila Perdomo
“A Wonderful Mother”
Zoila Garay de Perdomo, age 92, a resident of Tewksbury for 32 years, passed away at her home on Friday, February 25, 2022.
She was the beloved wife of Alfonso Perdomo, who passed away in 2001
Born in San Luis, Colombia on April 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Pedro Garay and the late Ernestina Palomino de Garay.
Zoila was raised in Chaparral, Colombia, where she attended local schools.
For many years, she assisted in operating a transportation business, which was owned by her late husband, Alfonso. In addition, while in Colombia, she served as a member of the Red Cross group known as the “Grey Ladies”.
Zoila resided in Colombia until moving to the United States in 1977.
She enjoyed traveling, dancing, cooking, gardening as well as interior decorating.
Zoila was a wonderful mother who helped family to raise several of her grandchildren.
She was the beloved mother of Alfonso Perdomo, Gloria Saa, the late Elizabeth Perdomo, Myriam Perdomo, Nelsy Martha Gordon and her husband Jason, Manuel Perdomo and his wife Alexandra, and Fernando Perdomo and his wife Deborah. Loving grandmother to Ricardo Perdomo, Jaime Perdomo, Jennifer Perdomo, John Saa, Sarah Gordon, Michelle Gordon, Giselle Perdomo, Vanessa Perdomo, and Nicole Perdomo. She leaves thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Zoila was the sister to Victor Garay, Alba Jimenez and Jairo Garay. She also was sister to the late Jaime Garay, Gladys Aristizabal, Enrique Garay, Pedro Garay, Joselin Garay, Fanny Duarte, Eufemia Garay, Benigna Garay, and Edgar Garay.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 7th, from 10-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, to be followed by her Memorial Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury.
