Obituary



Mildred M. O'Keefe, a lifelong resident of Wilmington passed away following a lengthy period of declining health on Monday, February 28, 2022 at her home surrounded by those she loved. Mildred or "Millie" as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was the beloved wife of the late Gerard P. O'Keefe. Born in Boston she was one of eleven children of the late John and Helen (Smith) Flynn.

Millie was a Wilmington High School graduate class of 1954 and at that point in her life she aspired, to be happy and successful". Shortly after her graduation from High School she went to work at the John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston. Following her marriage to her husband she became a devoted homemaker raising her family. When the youngest child was school age, she returned to the work force and began working mother`s hours at the L. A. Donovan Electro-Plating Company of Woburn, where she performed various duties until the company closed the mid 1990`s.

Millie's next venture was becoming a land developer. She purchased the Flynn Family home and developed the property by putting in a road and building her home where she lived until her passing. Millie was very proud of her land development project known as Flynn Way in Wilmington.

Millie was the devoted mother of Gerard O'Keefe, Jr. of Wilmington, Paul O'Keefe of Woburn, Karen O'Keefe and her loving companion Leo Power of Wilmington, and Daniel O'Keefe of Wilmington. Cherished sister of the late Dorothy Fournier, Joanne Neary, Irene Ramos, Kathleen McGondel, Marguerite, James, John, Patrick, William, and Charles Flynn. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 125 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, Thursday, March 3rd, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mildred's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
