Earl Gene Bennett, 92, of Ventura, California, passed away on February 28, 2022, in Ventura. At the time of passing, Earl was comforted by his sons. Earl was born in Ventura on July 12, 1929. He graduated from Ventura Senior High School and attended Ventura College before entering the United States Army in December 1950. Sergeant Earl G. Bennett bravely served his country in the Korean conflict until November 1952, and honorably discharged. Earl owned and operated Bennett Tile Company.
Earl was a lifelong sportsman. He loved to camp, hunt and fish with family and close friends; travel with his wife Geraldine; square dance and go to the local dog park with his dogs Roxy and Bindi. Earl coached many youth sports teams in Ventura and followed his sons and grandchildren throughout their youth and collegiate athletic careers.
Earl’s wife Geraldine passed in 2019, after sixty-seven years of marriage. He is survived by his two sons Jeff (Dee) of Ojai, and Bruce of Vista, California. His brother-in-law Dwayne (Sue) McWaters live in Ventura. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Alison Gaspard-Michel (JP) of Ventura, Andrea Heinzel (Bobby) of Fullerton, Cari Bennett of Arizona and Charles Bennett of Costa Mesa. Earl has two great grandchildren; Grayson and Penelope.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Humane Society of Ventura County. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all the doctors, Assisted Hospice nurses and the staff at AEGIS of Ventura for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2022, at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home at 757 E. Main St, Ventura, Pastor Neal Benson officiating. Visiting hours are 9 am to 11 am; Chapel Service at 11 am, followed by Burial Services with Military Honors at 12:30 pm at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
The family invites all attendees to enjoy Earl’s favorite desert of pie and ice cream at Earl’s house following the burial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home.
