Stephen Mitchell Rushton, 57, of Anderson died February 26, 2022 at Ascension, St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson after a brief illness.
He was born June 4, 1964 in Anderson, the son of Orville Rushton and Nancy (Ellis) McPherson.
He was the manager of Indiana Stallion Station for 18 years. He was also a timber buyer and logger. He was an active member in 4 H and Madison County Equestrian Club; National Barrel Race Association.
He is survived by his fiancée, Joyce Baker of Anderson; his mother, Nancy (Ellis) McPherson; brother, Jeff Rushton ; three sisters, Jennifer (Jeff) Welker, Stephanie (his twin) Bagienski; Julie (John) Armington; stepson, Jeremy (Teresa) Cross; stepdaughter, Cassie Poole; six grandchildren, Shelby, Wyatt, Cheyanne, Jesse, Lizzi and Dori; two greatgranddaughters, Carter and Dakota; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Ronnie Roberson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Rushton; paternal grandparents, Elmer (Beatrice) Rushton and maternal grandmother, Violetta Ellis.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Mike Whiteman of Elm Grove Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday; from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Madison County 4 H Club.
