Mary G. Emsley, 69, of Acushnet, formerly of Westport, died February 26, 2022 at home, surrounded by loved ones, after a short but fierce battle with cancer.
Born in Millbrook, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Gordon, Mary immigrated with her family to Attleboro, MA as a teenager where she later graduated from Attleboro High School and went on to Kinyon-Campbell Business School followed by becoming a mortgage and real estate broker.
Mary was an active member of her church, St. Francis Xavier in Acushnet, where she was often found in the early morning hours at adoration. She enjoyed her monthly brunch dates, Tuesday nights out with friends, Silvershell Beach, traveling to Aruba, watching football, and shopping. Most of all, Mary loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her beloved husband F. Marc Cenerizio, daughter Heather Emsley, son Gregg Emsley and his wife Nicole, son Marc A. Cenerizio and his wife Tanya; her grandchildren, Amanda Cenerizio, Olivia Cenerizio, Nicholas Emsley, Sophia Emsley, Alex Emsley and Alyssa Emsley and her great-granddaughter, Jillian Ruffino; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is predeceased by her grandson, Andrew Cenerizio.
In lieu of flowers, the family will welcome donations to either the Acushnet Lions Club or the SouthCoast Visiting Nursing Association, which provided both Mary and her family exceptional care during this difficult time.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 4th at 10 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, 125 Main Street., Acushnet. Her visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 3rd from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street., New Bedford.
