John Richard Gray of Medway, passed away on Monday morning, February 21, 2022, at the age of 92, at home with his family by his side. He was married 64 years to his wife Doris. John was the youngest son of Mildred and Clarence Gray of Sherborn, MA. Raised in Sherborn, he graduated high school from Sawin Academy as class president, then served in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. John worked for IBM in Boston as a Customer Service Engineer for many years. An enthusiastic traveler, he was so proud of visiting all 50 states, with Alaska being his favorite. John enjoyed cooking in his later years, visiting Road Food diners and compiling books on all his adventures. He loved learning about, watching and feeding the birds in his backyard.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son Charlie and wife Deborah of Winchester and daughter Connie MacSweeney, husband John of Assonet. He is predeceased by his son Chris and daughters Cindy and Cathy. John was proud of the accomplishments of his nine grandchildren, Jeanine, Alex, Brendan, Caroline, Kyler, Maddie, Mackenzie, Aidan and Aly, his daughter in law Kisanga Gray and his son in law Michael Conena. John welcomed his first great grandchild, Cordelia, born on Christmas Eve 2021. He is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews. John's sarcasm and wit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services and burial will be private for family. There are no calling hours.
