Ashton Elizabeth Flynt, 37, of Tifton passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday, February 26, 2022, surrounded by love. Ashton will be laid to rest in the company of her immediate family.
Ashton was born April 12, 1984 in Tifton. She is the daughter of Greg and Jan (Bailey) Sheppard and the late Michael “Butch” Flynt. She was a 2002 graduate of Tift County High School. She gave her life to Christ on her birthday, April 12, 2021 during a private prayer session with her bonus-dad, Greg. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton.
Ashton spent many years in the restaurant industry. She also spent a great amount of time as an employee at Chicago’s Pizza & Pasta in Tifton. She was the master at making many delicious dishes, including the famous pizzaroli, and had a special talent in cooking and creating new recipes.
In addition to her parents, Ashton is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ansley and Josh Culver and nephews and niece, Kayden, Jantzen, and Chandler Culver, all of Choctaw, Oklahoma; sister Allison Flynt of Chula; aunts and uncles, Gina and David McMillan, Judy and James Herring, Stacey and Brian Barbee, and Pam Sheppard, grandmother Mona Sheppard, all of Tifton; and great aunt, Kitsy Blanchard of Columbia, South Carolina. She is also survived by her beloved cousins and their spouses, Ashley and Christopher Cunningham of Beavercreek, Ohio, Adam and Kristen McMillan of Watkinsville, Lindsey and Matthew Henderson of Monroe, Melissa and Michael Wilson of Cumming, Jake and Loren Flynt, and Reed Flynt, all of Tifton.
Ashton was proceeded in death by her daddy, Michael Lee “Butch” Flynt; grandparents, George and Teele Bailey and O.P. and Shirley Flynt; her uncle, Jerry Flynt; and her sweet, beloved, and loyal companion for many years, her rescue dog, Chili.
Ashton had a beautiful smile that would instantly light up a room. She was a gifted musician with the ability to play any instrument she picked up. When it came to playing her favorite instrument, the piano, Ashton was exceptional. There was no song she could not master. Ashton will always be remembered as a highly intelligent, musically gifted individual, and a jack of all trades and master of them all. One role Ashton took very seriously was that of “big sister.” Even throughout her sickness, she tried to take care of her “little” sisters.
A special thank you to Ashton’s Aunt Gina and Aunt Judy for so lovingly caring for her, especially throughout her final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, 618 Central Avenue North, Tifton, GA 31794, for taking such good care of Ashton and her family; or Paw Paradise, 1676 Carpenter Road South, Tifton, GA 31793, for taking such special care of Chili throughout Ashton’s illness.
