LUDLOW – Irene P. (Paulo) Ribeiro, 95, of Ludlow, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, February 24, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on December 19, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Lionel and Maria P. (Mendes) Paulo. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the High School of Commerce and previously lived on Sterling Street as well as Park Road, both in the Glenwood section of Springfield, before moving to Ludlow in 2004. She was last employed as a secretary at Baystate Medical Center and previously at Titeflex and Monsanto Chemical, all in Springfield. Irene loved music and was a longtime soprano vocalist who sang at many of the area churches including the South Congregational Church in Springfield. She was also a regular soloist on Sundays on WSPR Radio. She was a communicant of the Catholic Community of Saint Elizabeth at Saint John the Baptist Church in Ludlow. Most of all she was a loving woman who adored her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Manuel Ribeiro who was Called Home on February 11, 2001. They were married on April 21, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 59 years of happiness together. She leaves her three devoted children, Lionel P. Ribeiro and his wife, Susan, Cynthia P. Miller and her husband, John, and David M. Ribeiro and his partner, Laura Simoneau, all of Ludlow; her six cherished grandchildren, Matthew Ribeiro and his wife, Marianne, Jeffrey Ribeiro, Jennifer Miller, Marc Miller and his fiancée, Sarah Ruhl, Juliet Ribeiro and Rhett Ribeiro; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Mia Ribeiro, Maddox Ribeiro and Makayla Ribeiro; and her many dear nephews and nieces including, Paul Ribeiro and his wife, Shannon, of Somerville, NJ, and Patricia Tabin and her husband, Alan, of South Hadley, her cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two loving sisters, Rose Paulo and Alzira (Paulo) Ribeiro and her husband, Adelino Ribeiro. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, March 3, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
