Ken was born in Worcester, son of the late Harry and Gertrude (Young) Hedenburg. He graduated from North High School, Worcester Academy and Clark University. Ken proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the Air National Guard. He went to work at Paul Revere Life Insurance Company of Worcester starting in 1950, retiring in 1989 as Vice President. He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, serving on many committees such as the Sunday School Dept, Pastor Parish Relations, Finance, and as an Usher. He was also honored as the Wesley Methodist Layman of the Year in 1988. He volunteered his time to The Carty Cupboard Food Pantry. He spent many hours volunteering his services to The United Way of Central Massachusetts for Fund Allocation. He also served as a Trustee and Assistant Treasurer at Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Boylston and enjoyed being a volunteer gardener there.
Kenneth was a real “renaissance man” who enjoyed learning throughout his life. He took adult sailing lessons, Fly Tying lessons, many W.I.S.E. courses, woodworking at the Worcester Center for Crafts where he advanced his skills and made many cherished treasures for family. He enjoyed fly fishing, saltwater fishing and freshwater fishing and shared that love with his grandchildren. Ken enjoyed the White Mountains and had hiked on many trails. He enjoyed golfing with friends and biking on the rail trail. But most of all he loved spending time with family, especially at Wells/Moody Beach in Maine. No trip was complete without a stroll on the Marginal Way.
