John A. Stanovitch, Jr., 74

John A. Stanovitch, Jr., age 74, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Beth Israel Hospital in Needham. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis A. (Murphy) Stanovitch, to whom he was wed for forty-seven years.
Born in Norwood, MA on July 14, 1947, he was a loving son of the late John A., Sr. and Marion E. (Palsic) Stanovitch.
John “Stano” grew up in Norwood and was a graduate of Norwood High School. He worked part time as a Blacksmith, well into his 40’s, attending to local horse stables, including his memorable time at the former Circle C Stables in Mansfield. John settled in Mansfield, spending the past 45 years caring for livestock and enjoying tinkering with his scrap metals.
He worked for the Westwood DPW, Highway Dept., where he retired as a foreman after 47 integrous years. John had that recognizable face and memorable personality at the local yard sales and sporting events, being someone who knew a little bit about everything.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children Keri Stanovitch, John Stanovitch, III and Lori Stanovitch, all of Mansfield. He was the cherished grandfather of Samantha, Skylar, Zander and Tyler. He was the dear brother of Linda Taylor of Norwood and the late Joan Johnston, Gail Mohan, William Stanovitch, Ronald Stanovitch, Sr. and is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, March 2nd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 3rd at 12 noon in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street, (Route 106), Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
