CHICOPEE – Phyllis G. (Magdefrau) Murphy, 83, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 21, 1939, the beloved daughter of the late Herman and Irene (Eddy) Magdefrau. She was raised in Chicago and moved to Holyoke in 1955 where she graduated from Holyoke High School. She moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 2000 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was the Supervisor in the mail room for Friendly’s Ice Cream in Wilbraham and retired in 2003. She was an avid golfer, and enjoyed reading and shopping. She especially enjoyed having her favorite dessert, ice cream. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She leaves her devoted children, Sally K. Murphy and her husband, Michael Baldini, of Springfield, Diane S. Murphy and her partner, Virginia Campbell, of Norwich, CT, and Mark Murphy of Bangkok, Thailand; her grandson, Christopher Calaf of Springfield; her two cherished great grandchildren, Kayla Calaf and Christopher Calaf, Jr.; and her many friends and extended family members. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, Peter Meyer who passed away in 1997. Her family will receive friends on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Masks are recommended for her services. Her burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
