Virginia R. D’Onofrio, 81

Virginia R. “Ginny” (Temple) D’Onofrio, age 81, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Branches of North Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of Richard P. D’Onofrio, to whom she was wed for nearly twenty-one years and the late Robert C. Mitchell, who died on September 27, 1995.
Born in Boston, MA on December 10, 1940, she was a loving daughter of the late Doris (Jones) Comeau and Richard M. Temple.
Ginny grew up in the Wollaston section of Quincy and was a graduate of North Quincy High School. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past fifty-six years.
A dedicated home maker to her adoring family, she was also a devoted caregiver for many years to her late husband Robert. Ginny was an active communicant of Saint Mary’s, where she assisted many families throughout the years prepare for weddings and funerals.
Ginny’s hobbies included sewing, arts and crafts and home improvement projects. Following retirement, she and Richard enjoyed traveling and camping.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children Linda M. Shackford and her husband Josh of Madison, NH, Donna R. Leonardo and her husband Vincent of Douglas and the late Daniel K. Mitchell, who is survived by his wife Patricia Mitchell of Taunton. She was the cherished grandmother of Cameron Mitchell, Ashley Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, David Farinella, Nicholas Farinella, Christopher Farinella and Mario Leonardo. She was the dear sister of the late David Temple. She is also survived by Richard’s children Richard D’Onofrio and Jeannie Fitzpatrick, as well as the members of the extended D’Onofrio family and her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, February 28th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 1st at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street, (Route 106), Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
