Halina Lis passed away at the age of 96 on February 20, 2022, at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Rzancy, Poland on April 10, 1925 the daughter of Franciszek and Marianna (Peltak) Trzcinski. Following World War II, she immigrated to the United States, settling in Manchester NH with her husband Marian and her daughter Zofia. Her story is that of a successful Polish immigrant, working long hours at Pandora Industries, saving to buy her family a home while raising four children, two of whom went on to college.
She had many hobbies–dancing, cooking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. But time spent in the garden was sacred to her. Well into her eighties she managed her prolific garden and fruit trees on her own. She also relished being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marian Lis, and two sons John Lis and Stephen Lis.
Family members include her daughters Zofia Guiliano and her husband, Joseph of Manchester and Theresa Derepentigny; grandchildren Jay Guiliano of Arlington, VA, Michelle Guiliano-King of Etna, NH, and Sara Lis of Manchester; and great-grandchildren Benjamin and Anna King.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 10 am to 11 am at J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St, with a prayer service at 11 am in the funeral home. The burial will follow in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Bedford.
