Obituary

Suzanne A. Marr, 73, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loved ones on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved companion of Robert Arnold for the last sixteen years.

A daughter of the late Thomas P. Marr, Sr., and the late Mary D. (Souza) Marr, she was born November 17, 1948, in Lowell and was raised in the City, graduating from Lowell Trade School in the Cosmetology Program. For several years after her schooling she worked at Talk of the Town Hair Salon.

She was fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom until the late 80's. As her children grew, she began working outside of the home, and became a para professional for the City of Lowell School Department. She began at Pawtucketville Memorial Elementary School and retired from the Shaughnessy Elementary School in 2018 after over 30 years of service.

Suzanne enjoyed taking long drives, visiting Maine to her favorite candy shop, or taking any adventure that involved traveling on the road, which was her favorite past time. She will be remembered as someone who would help anyone who needed assistance. Also, she loved crafts and making wreaths, but most especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and was a loving, attentive grandmother and loved her grandchildren with all her heart. She also took foster children into her home when her own children were younger. Suzanne is loved and will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

Her survivors include her loving partner, Robert Arnold of Lowell; her children, Kenneth Doubleday Jr., and his wife, Jen, of Hudson, NH and William Doubleday and his companion, Elizabeth Marchand, of Dracut; her beloved grandchildren, Briana Doubleday and Aleea Doubleday of North Carolina, Jordyn Fleury of Dracut, Owen Doubleday, Evan Doubleday, and Emma Doubleday all of Hudson; her brother, Thomas Marr II and his wife, Kathleen of Lowell; her lifelong family friend, Shailagh Love of Lowell who was like a daughter to Suzanne; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was also the former wife of the late Kenneth W. Doubleday Sr.

Her funeral services were held privately. Arrangements by the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816.

Memorials in her name to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
