Obituary

DC Holloway of Babson Park, FL was born on January 5, 1938, on a small farm outside Hartselle, Alabama. He was the fourth child and only son of Colman Dewey and Margaret Roan Holloway.

After graduating from high school, he attended Berry College in Rome, GA for one year before transferring to Anderson College (AU) in Indiana to study music. It was at Anderson College where he met Shirley Byrum whom he married on July 8th 1961, and she remained the love of his life during their sixty year marriage. At Anderson College DC also sang in the quartets traveling around the country sharing the gospel through song. Many of the people DC met during the years at Anderson College have remained lifelong friends.

In 1964, DC graduated with a master's degree in music education from Colorado State College; (University of Northern Colorado). DC pursued careers in education and music ministry serving schools and churches in Indiana, Florida, and Colorado. DC and family moved to Lake Wales, FL in 1969. In Lake Wales DC was an active member of South Lake Wales Church of God for many years. In the late eighties DC founded and directed the Indiana Youth Choir. DC enjoyed mentoring youth, especially through music.

In retirement DC continued to sing, participate in church activities and visit family and friends across the country.

DC passed from his earthly home to heaven on January 31st, 2022, at age 84. He died peacefully with his family around him and is free from the limitations of his body. We will miss his kind and gentle ways, but we give thanks for the many years of love and care he gave us. He is singing in the greatest choir he could ever imagine in heaven with a big smile on his face.

DC is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Christi Silver and son, Jonathan Holloway (Jennifer); grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel, Hannah (Ryan), Makenna, Camden, and Adalyn; great granddaughter, Lavender Silver; brothers-in-law, James Byrum, Larry Gray and George Reynolds; nieces and nephews.
