Obituary

Jamie A. (Knox) Bouchard, 62, of New Bedford died suddenly on Friday, February 18, 2022 of an unexpected heart condition.

Jamie was a native of New Bedford, born on July 22, 1959. She is survived by her loving husband Bruce E. Bouchard, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage; their 3 children, Jessica and her husband Dan Pratt, Brandon and his wife Regina Bouchard, and Brad Bouchard; and 2 grandchildren, Benjamin Bouchard and Cora Pratt.

She was the daughter of the late James and Vilma Knox. She was the loving sister to Tammy (Randy) Mattson, Bonnie Knox, Annette (Neil) Fisher, John Knox, and Heather (Jules) Tetreault. She was affectionately called Tia Fun, Tia Jami or simply Tia by her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was the loving daughter-in-law to William Bouchard and the late Priscilla Bouchard. She also leaves behind Lynne Cotter who was her best friend since childhood and with whom she checked in with daily.

Jamie was a graduate of New Bedford High School class of 1977 and received her associates degree from Bristol Community College. She worked as a Clinical Laboratory Technician at St. Luke's Hospital for over 44 years. Jamie had a strong spirit and her energy was contagious. Jamie's love reached far beyond her family. She was often regarded as outgoing, adventurous, crazy, and full of life. She could be found on the different floors of St. Luke's Hospital asking staff if they had a dollar. Without knowing why, people would hand over money, only to be given a raffle ticket to help her support a cause she cared about. Her effervescent personality carried through in all that she did. Jamie had a passion for making sure her family celebrated all holidays, especially those less celebrated such as Groundhog Day and Dr. Seuss's birthday. She also enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, planning family outings, and quilting. Her creative essence was felt by all whom she loved. She was most proud when she made quilts for others or entered them in competitions at the Westport fair. She was always willing to open her heart, home, and creations to many of her "adopted" children.

In everything she did, she never expected anything in return. The only thing she asked for was a simple "Thank you." So, thank you to all, for the cherished memories, laughter, and unconditional love you showed her.

Her visiting hours will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 from 4-8pm in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford with a brief service held at 6pm, during the visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jamie's memory can be made to a charity of your choice. For directions and guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
