Francis “Frank” M. Lukosius, 79, of Bedford, NH, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH. He was born on October 10, 1942 and raised in Boston, MA, a son to the late Ignatius and Patricia (Normant) Lukosius.
Frank attended Catholic school through high school, graduating from St. Columbkille School in Brighton in 1960 and served as an altar boy at St. Anthony's in Allston, MA.
Frank served in the U.S. Air Force as a Medic, stationed in Germany and Minot, North Dakota where he met his wife Kay. Upon honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1964, he and Kay were married and returned to Boston where he attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He graduated in 1969 and began his pharmacy career at Osco Drug stores throughout New England. In 1974, Frank began work at Hospital Pharmacy in Derry, which he went on to purchase in 1980. He later opened Crossroads Pharmacy and Option Care Home IV Services. He took pride in providing personalized customer service, and had many loyal customers and patients. Throughout his 50 year pharmacy career he also worked in home health and hospice, oncology, and as an instructor. Frank was also a part-time Derry Police Officer for 14 years, following in the footsteps of his father, a Boston Police lieutenant.
Frank took pride in serving his community as a pharmacist, but also in his many volunteer roles including the Derry Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Alexander Eastman Foundation. He was particularly passionate about his volunteer work with Community Health Services of Derry and New Hampshire Med Bank. Frank was awarded the New Hampshire Bowl of Hygeia in 1984, Derry Citizen of the Year in 1985, and a Paul Harris Fellow Rotary Award in 1986.
Frank’s greatest joys were his family and many close friends. He lived a life of service to others and could often be found helping his daughters and son-in-laws with projects around the house, playing with his grandchildren, or lending a hand to neighbors and friends. He could always be found on the sidelines or in the audience of his grandchildren's games, competitions, and recitals. He enjoyed a good conversation with a stranger or a friend. Frank was a true gentleman, and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Frank enjoyed traveling, and his favorite trips were to visit family in North Dakota, Hilton Head, SC and Florida. He also took once in a lifetime trips to Alaska and Norway. He enjoyed kayaking and had participated in bicycle trips in both North Dakota and Florida. He was an avid New England sports fan.
