Obituary



Edward J. Conley, age 78, of Brockton, died February 14, 2022 at Alliance Health in Marina Bay, Quincy, MA. He was the devoted husband of Carol F. (Deslauriers) Conley for 55 years. Born in Brockton, a son of the late Clement and Viola (Bennard) Conley, he was a lifelong resident of the city.

After serving in the US Navy, Edward worked for many years as a rigger at General Dynamics in Quincy. When it closed, he worked in the building and grounds department at Stonehill College until he retired.

Edward loved to play poker and take trips to the casinos. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and also enjoyed watching college football, boxing and candlepin bowling. Most importantly, Edward treasured time with his family. He will be remembered as a happy man who had a laugh you could never forget.

Edward was the father of Christine Freeman of Taunton and Edward C. Conley of Brockton and the grandfather of Nicholas and Julia Freeman. He leaves his sister Marilyn Cohen of Brockton, sister-in-law Jean Sullivan of Wareham and son-in-law Bill Freeman of Taunton as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Edward was the brother of the late Rose Nadeau, Gloria Willard, Gerald Conley and Rita Orr.

A Celebration of Edward’s Life will be held at a later date.
