SPRINGFIELD - Doris C. (Hebert) McNeil, 87, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, February 17, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Life Care Center of Wilbraham surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on July 5, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late John B. and Dora P. (Chabot) Hebert. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was employed as a Telephone Operator with New England Telephone, which later became AT&T. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. During her leisure time, she enjoyed spending time outdoors and traveling. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, David McNeil who was Called Home on March 20, 1985. She leaves her many loving nephews and nieces and her many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her six loving siblings, Rita E. Gamble and her husband, Raymond, Alice Hoekstra and her husband, Donald, Vivian Collard, Theresa DeSellier and her husband, Richard, Joseph Hebert and Thomas Hebert. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to her Mass. Masks are required for her services.
